Regarding COVID-19:

Collins, Buckley, Sauntry & Haugh remains open for business during this Stay at Home period as our work has been deemed essential by Governor Walz. To ensure we can serve our clients and that our staff is safe and healthy we are doing our work remotely. We continue to work on current and new client matters. Minnesota Courts are determining which cases will be heard based on their priority level. If you have an active case and an upcoming hearing date, we will notify you regarding any additional impact the circumstances surrounding COVID-19 may have on your case. Thank you for your continued patience and cooperation during this time.

Biography

Professional Bio

Charles Shafer assists clients in matters involving general civil litigation, with an emphasis on employment and contract disputes. He is skilled in deconstructing complex legal and technical issues for lay audiences. Additionally, Charles serves as a volunteer attorney for the Tubman Safety Project, which provides pro bono representation to victims of domestic violence.

Charles was inspired to become an attorney (which he insists had nothing to do with the unemployability of an English major) to use the law to help his clients navigate complex issues.

Personal Bio

Charles is a Wisconsin native who defected to avoid persecution for his support of the Minnesota Vikings. When he is not practicing law, he spends his time either challenging his friends in various sports or canoeing in the Boundary Waters. He is also the co-owner/operator of River Beats Entertainment, LLC, which provides DJ services.

Charles attended the University of Minnesota Law school, where he served as the student director for the Bankruptcy Clinic, argued for the Duberstein Moot Court Competition Team at the regional and national competitions, volunteered with the Minnesota Justice Foundation, and captained the Fighting Mondales Ice Hockey Team.
