Thomas R. O'Connell

Mr. O’Connell is a lawyer and a Certified Public Accountant (Inactive). He is engaged in the following areas of practice: real estate law; probate law; tax law; estate planning including, wills, trusts, powers of attorney and health care directives; elder law; general corporate law; purchase and sale of businesses.

Before entering law school, Mr. O’Connell served as an officer-aviator in the United States Naval Reserve in 1969 and 1970. From 1971 to 1973, Mr. O’Connell was on the staff of the Office of the Public Examiner. He was a member of the State Auditor’s office from 1973 until 1979, during which time he was responsible for many of the largest and most sophisticated audits of that office, including financial and/or legal compliance audits of the Metropolitan Council, the Metropolitan Waste Control Commission, the Metropolitan Airports Commission, and Minnesota’s then three largest School Districts. During this time, Mr. O’Connell was a lecturer and instructor at professional education seminars. He also acted as the State Auditor’s representative in the development of the Uniform Financial Accounting and Reporting System for Minnesota School Districts.

Mr. O’Connell is a member of the Ramsey County Bar Association and the Association’s Senior Issues Committee. He is a member of the Minnesota State Bar Association and is active in the Elder Law Section. Mr. O’Connell has been a lecturer and/or instructor at Real Estate, Probate and Elder Law Continuing Legal Education (CLE) seminars.
