Prior to earning his law degree, Mr. McEllistrem earned his Masters in Business Administration in Finance (MBA) from the University of Minnesota, Carlson School of Management. Mr. McEllistrem is engaged in the general practice of law, with a focus in general corporate law, commercial transactions and real estate law. He specializes in the area of sexual abuse litigation, representing both plaintiffs and defendants.

Mr. McEllistrem is a member of the Ramsey County, Minnesota State and American Bar Associations.

Since 1996, Mr. McEllistrem has served on the fund distribution committee of the St. Paul Area United Way, and currently serves as lead volunteer for the Greater Twin Cities United Way. Mr. McEllistrem also currently steers the United Way's Emerging Leaders group. In addition he serves as a member of the Agency Services Committee.
