Mr. O’Connell is engaged in the general practice of law, with an emphasis in civil litigation. He has broad experience in family law, professional responsibility, commercial litigation and probate. He counsels clients on dissolution-related areas, such as divorce taxation, pensions, business evaluations, child custody and antenuptial agreements. His practice includes work with corporations and partnerships, estate planning, wills, trusts, real estate and elder law. He has assisted the firm in its insurance defense practice. He also practices in the Appellate Courts and has experience in personal injury matters.

Mr. O'Connell served as President Elect of the Ramsey County Bar Association in 2000-2001 and as President in 2001-2002.

In addition to his membership in the Ramsey County Bar Association, Mr. O’Connell is a member of the Minnesota State Bar Association, the American and Minnesota Trial Lawyers Associations, as well as the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Minnesota Society of Certified Public Accountants, the American Association of Attorney – Certified Public Accountants, the Academy of Family Mediators and the Association of Professional Responsibility Lawyers.

Mr. O’Connell is a Training Associate with the Mediation Center for Dispute Resolution at Hamline University Law School.
