Mr. Collins has represented a wide variety of individual and corporate clients. He has extensive experience in complex litigation and has frequently practiced in the Appellate Courts. He is also certified as a Civil and Criminal Trial advocate by the National Board of Trial Advocacy.
From 1960 to 1961, Mr. Collins was employed as Assistant General Counsel for the 3M Company. Between 1961 to 1963, he acted as Assistant to the Minnesota Attorney General; from 1971 to 1983 as Special Assistant Country Attorney for Ramsey, Washington, Dakota, and Sherburne Counties at various times. He was an instructor in Criminal Law at the St. Paul Police Academy from 1963 to 1978.
Mr. Collins is a Past President and Chairman of the Board of Trustees for the St. Paul Ramsey Hospital Medical Education and Research Foundation and has served as Secretary of the Minnesota Chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates. He served on the Board of Legal Assistance of Ramsey County, and he is or has been a member of Minnesota Trial Lawyers Association, American Board of Trial Advocates, National Board of Trial Advocacy, American Judicature Society, Minnesota Women Lawyers, and The American Bar Foundation.
Mr. Collins is a former President of the Minnesota State Bar Association. Before that, he served as chairman of several of MSBA sections and committees, on its Board of Governors and as Treasurer. He is a member and past President of the Ramsey County Bar Association and has served as Minnesota State Delegate to the American Bar Association. Mr. Collins is a member of the Minnesota State Bar Foundation.
Most recently, Mr. Collins has focused his practice in the area of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR), serving as mediator and arbitrator in a wide variety of areas. He is one of the founders of CBS&H Mediation Services, a division of Collins, Buckley, Sauntry & Haugh, P.L.L.P.
